Understanding the Nine Human Design Centers
In Human Design, the nine energy centers are the core of your personal blueprint. They represent different aspects of human experience, from thinking and communication to identity, emotions, and physical vitality. Whether defined (colored in on your chart) or undefined (white), each center plays a vital role in how you process energy, interact with others, and make decisions.
Understanding how these centers function can help you navigate your life with more awareness, compassion, and authenticity.

Defined vs Undefined Centers
All of us have all nine centers—whether they are defined or undefined. Defined centers (colored in) indicate areas where we consistently generate or express energy. Undefined centers (white) are areas where we absorb, amplify, and learn from the energy around us.
Understanding these differences helps you recognize what's authentically yours versus what's being taken in from your environment. The dance between the defined and undefined centers makes each chart—and each person—entirely unique.
